Chaplain (Capt.) Emil J. Kapaun is welcomed home with honors in his hometown of Pilsen, Kansas Sep. 25 in Wichita, Kansas. He is saluted by fellow Prisoner-of-War Paul Roach, as he looks on at his casket being carried into the church. Chaplain Kapaun began his journey home after his remains were identified more than 70 years after his passing. Kapaun arrived home after the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) identified Chaplain Kapaun’s previously unaccounted for remains on March 2, 2021.
