U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District park ranger Tom Wetzel shows a piece of shale to tour participants at the Mount Morris Dam, Mount Morris, NY, September 27, 2021.
About 30 days are required to empty a full reservoir at a rate that would safely avoid damage to downstream properties. During periods of the year when little precipitation occurs, run-of-the-river levels prevail in the gorge.
The project area is characterized by abundant natural resources and is home to many wildlife species.
