U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 91st Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron and the 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron complete the first-ever hot-pit refuel of a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft in Afghanistan, April 27, 2021. Hot-pit refueling is another term for an engine-running refuel while the aircraft is grounded and is a capability being built to increase efficiency on the ground and increase the amount of fuel in the air.
