The image shows three small shorebird chicks, likely plovers or similar wading birds, housed in what appears to be a wildlife rehabilitation enclosure. The setup includes artificial and real vegetation, a sand substrate tray, and small water/food dishes, suggesting a controlled care environment. Two birds are standing on an elevated surface while one is positioned near the sand tray.

Five oiled Snowy Plovers were recovered from the Orange County spill area. This federally threatened species is protected to promote population recovery. All five Plovers are stabilized and currently receiving rehabilitative care at an OWCN primary care facility. They will be returned to the wild in a clean and safe environment where they were initially recovered once they have met approved criteria for release as established by the OWCN.
