ARLINGTON, Virginia - World War II veterans U.S. Army 1st Lieutenant Bette Horstman, 99, and U.S. Army Sgt. Josephine Bogdanich, 104, blow out candles in anticipation of Bogdanich's upcoming 105th birthday. Both were presented with Living Legend Proclamations from the Military Women's Memorial Oct. 6 during Operation HerStory, an all female Honor Flight from Chicago to Washington, D.C. The two were the senior members of the first all female Honor Flight from Chicago during which 93 female veterans with service to the nation spanning from 1941 to 1975 were honored and recognized.
