Col. Ricky L. Allbritton, commander, Letterkenny Army Depot, and Sgt. Maj. Ekondua C. Amoke, depot and installation Sergeant Major, LEAD, present Derrick Born, an environmental protection specialist in the Directorate of Public Works, LEAD, with the Civilian Service Achievement Medal in recognition of his selection as an employee of the quarter during an award ceremony Oct. 5. Born led the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems audit by ensuring the depot’s environmental documents were updated and properly documented. He manages the ISO 14001, storage tank inventory and maintenance, Qualified Recycling Program, water quality compliance, Environmental Performance Assessment System and the Environmental Quality Control Board. Born recently saved the depot $85,000 by renewing the depot’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for the Industrial Water Treatment Plan – a task that is usually outsourced, costing the depot money.
