McAndrew Deputy Comptroller for Program/Budget in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Comptroller (OUSD(C)) and Barbara Buteau-Pierre a Senior Budget Analyst in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense are briefed about Operation Allies Welcome facilities by Col. Mitzi Fields, commander for 528th Hospital Center, 1st Medical Brigade, 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, during a walk-through of Fort Bliss’ Doña Ana Range Complex in New Mexico, Oct. 18, 2021. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
