U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Christian Kangos, an electrician assigned to Task Force Pickett, stocks a shelf with cold weather supplies intended for Afghan guests at Fort Pickett, Virginia, Oct. 23, 2021. Task Force Pickett will be distributing over 70,000 articles of clothing with thousands of blankets and linen sets to help Afghan guests prepare for the upcoming winter months. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
