211016-N-VN217-1004 CHINHAE, South Korea (Oct. 16, 2021) Builder 3rd Class Citalli Gonzalez (left to right), Construction Electrician Constructionman Timothy Kane, and Lt. j.g. Riley Hix, review the M256A1 chemical detector during training onboard Commander Fleet Activities Chinhae, South Korea. The detector determines whether it is safe to remove the protective mask following a chemical warfare agent attack. The U.S. Navy Seabees assigned to NMCB-5 are deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations, supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific, strengthening their alliances and partnerships, and providing general engineering and civil support to joint operational forces. Homeported out of Port Hueneme, California, NMCB-5 has 13 detail sites deployed throughout the U.S and Indo-Pacific area of operations.
