Mohauddin Taeb (Left), and his daughter, Limah Taeb (Right), volunteers with the Afghan Association of
Central Virginia, teach Afghan children colors on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Oct. 24, 2021. The activity was
part of an arts and crafts event intended to provide a fun and educational environment for Afghan
children at Fort Pickett. Volunteers from the Afghan Association of Central Virginia, Health Point
Foundation, FAMIL, Husayn for Humanity, and Helpers To Good have been sending volunteers weekly to
Fort Pickett for the past month. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in
support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing,
medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in
permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel
essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
