JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON – (Oct. 26, 2021) U.S. Army Maj. Sara Hegge, of Mentor, Minn., director of Veterinary Sciences assigned to Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, received a command coin from the 27th chief of the Army Veterinary Corps, Col. Steven Greiner during his visit to the Tri-Service Research Laboratory. Greiner also presented coins to other Soldiers and civilians assigned to NAMRU San Antonio and Veterinary Services (RHDV), U.S. Air Force 711th Human Performance Wing for their dedicated service. NAMRU San Antonio is one of the leading research and development laboratories for the U.S. Navy under the Department of Defense and is one of eight subordinate research commands in the global network of laboratories operating under the Naval Medical Research Center in Silver Spring, Md. Its mission is to conduct gap driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of DOD personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
