U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Carlos Solinas, a machinist with 3rd General Support Maintenance Battalion, as part of a multi-discipline exploitation team conducts precision measurement of an ordnance item in order to create a 3D model during the Munitions Optimization Workshop on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 25, 2021. His information when compiled with additional data points was then digitally transferred via Marine Communications equipment to Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, for presumptive analysis and assessment of the weapons warhead performance capabilities (penetration depth, velocities, densities). U.S. Marines train with specialists from U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM AC) and Expeditionary Systems Engineering Division (ESED), a Naval Surface Warfare Detachment from Fallbrook, CA, with Soldiers and Airmen to enhance ideas and tactics and improve inter-service relations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
