Brig. Gen. Naive F. Knell, commander of Task Force Atterbury, presents a replica of “The Rock” to Lt. Col. Christian G. Cook, commander of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, and his senior enlisted advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. Mikeal McInroy, at Camp Atterbury, Ind., Oct. 28, 2021. The rock symbolizes the 2-7 CAV’s support to Operation Allies Welcome at Camp Atterbury. This initiative provides essential support at secure locations outside of Afghanistan. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities in permanent or temporary structures as quickly as possible.
