U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Maria R Gervais, the deputy commanding general chief of staff assigned to the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, talks to key Task Force Eagle female leadership and museum staff at the Army Women's Museum, Fort Lee, Virginia, Nov. 9, 2021. Lt. Gen. Gervais came to tour the museum and speak with Afghan guests about opportunities for women in the United States. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
