Waikiki Elementary Principal Ryan Kusuda with U.S. Air National Guard Lt. Col. Nathaniel Duff thanked Soldiers and Airmen for their assistance after completing their first vaccination event that led to the inoculation of more than 100 elementary students and staff at Waikiki Elementary, Waikiki, Hawaii, November 9, 2021. The Hawaii Department of Health and Department of Education partnered with Safeway, an American supermarket and pharmacy, to provide and administer the Pfizer vaccine at Waikiki Elementary. In it’s second day, Guardsmen assigned to Hawaii National Guard Joint Task Force responded to a request by state departments to provide non-medical support to assist school staff and vaccine providers at public schools across the state of Hawaii to provide check-in, registration, line control, post vaccination support, set-up and takedown, and traffic control support.
