Lt. Col. Dena Goble, assigned to Task Force McCoy, shows Heather King, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Homeland Defense Integration and Defense Support of Civil Authorities, and Robert Renton, senior response official of the Unified Coordination Group, a bulletin board with information for the Afghan evacuees during a site tour at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Nov. 12, 2021 as part of Operation Allies Welcome. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
