Marines and sailors with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) honor an age-old tradition by holding a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the 246th Marine Corps Birthday on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Nov. 10, 2021. Each year, Marines around the globe gather together to take part in the ceremonial cutting of a Marine Corps birthday cake. This tradition includes the passing of the first slice of cake from the eldest Marine to the youngest Marine, signifying the passing of tradition and knowledge to the newest generation of Marines.
