PANAMA CITY - (Nov. 13, 2021) – Sailors assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 2 explain their role in salvaging a sunken vessel to Mr. Stewart Tuttle, Chargé d’Affairs, a.i. at U.S. Embassy Panama, during a tour of the Panama salvage project site as part of a key leader engagement, Nov. 13, 2021. MDSU 2 Sailors and personnel assigned to the Navy’s Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV) are conducting a salvage operation to remove a sunken vessel which has blocked Pier 3 of the Vasco Nunez de Balboa port in Panama since 2004. U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet serves as a trusted partner for Caribbean, Central and South America maritime forces leading to improved unity, security and stability.
