Master Chief Hospital Corpsman Edward Lennon, assigned to Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic, and Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Bradley Norton, from Houston, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) medical department, inspect one of the ship’s medical scopes during crew certification (CREWCERT) II, Nov. 17, 2021. Orchestrated by Carrier Strike Group 12 and supported by Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic and Afloat Training Group, CREWCERT II will ensure that the first-in-class aircraft carrier is ready for operational employment next year. Ford is in port at Newport News Shipyard executing her Planned Incremental Availability (PIA), a six-month period of modernization, maintenance and repairs.
