On October 27, 2021, Col. Prentice Price, and the newly formed DAISY Committee hosted the kickoff celebration of The DAISY Award Program at Tripler Army Medical Center. This program was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. His family wanted to honor his memory and the nurses who cared for him in his final days so they developed a program that has grown internationally with the purpose of recognizing the skill and compassion exemplified by nurses each and every day.
