Marcus Whitt, a veteran of MACV-SOG, listens to active service members with 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), talks about the history of physical training within the Special Forces community as part of the MACV-SOG Heritage Week, Fort Bragg N.C., Nov. 9, 2021. The Military Assistance Command, Vietnam-Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) was a highly classified, multi-service United States Special Operations unit which conducted covert unconventional warfare operations prior to and during the Vietnam War. The MACV-SOG Heritage Week honors the Green Berets of Vietnam that paved the way for the Special Forces Soldiers of today, while also honoring the indigenous Vietnamese Montongard who worked alongside U.S. forces during the Vietnam war.
