A U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor with the 90th Fighter Squadron, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, departs from a KC-10 Extender, 79th Air Refueling Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, California, after air-to-air refueling during Checkered Flag 22-1 over the Gulf of Mexico, Nov. 9, 2021. Checkered Flag is a large-force aerial exercise held at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, which fosters readiness and interoperability through the incorporation of fourth- and fifth-generation aircraft during air-to-air combat training.
