On Dec. 1, 2021, the Navy Exchange Service Command’s (NEXCOM) NEX Great Lake, Illinois, Services Department cut the ribbon to open a new embroidery operation in support of new recruits arriving for Navy boot camp at Naval Station Great Lakes. NEX Great Lakes will now produce embroidered name tapes for all recruit uniforms. NEXCOM is comprised of 16,000 personnel worldwide facilitating seven business lines, NEX retail stores, Navy Lodges, Navy Gateway Inns & Suites, Ships Store Program, Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility, Uniform Program Management Office and Telecommunications Program Office.
