U.S. Air Force Capt. Tim Necarsulmer, a C-17 co-pilot assigned to the 517th Airlift Squadron, tests out the upcoming virtual-reality training headset at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Nov. 18, 2021. The use of VR headsets in a training environment gives Airmen the opportunity to work with exact virtual replicas of aircraft and substitute real flight hours. Ultimately, this new equipment saves fuel and provides consistent training even when limitations prevent real-world flight exercises. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Mario Calabro)
