Melodee Saiz, Outreach Admissions and Career Transitions Services Director, Albuquerque Job Corps Center, speaks to Afghan evacuees staying at Task Force Holloman about the benefits of Job Corps at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, Nov. 30, 2021. Job Corps offers to help young people between the ages of 16-24 with no-cost education benefits as well as job placement services. There are Job Corps centers located in 121 cities throughout the U.S. and provide no-cost education and vocational training to eligible applicants. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
