Service members from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and Naval Postgraduate School took the ruck-march test for the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif., Oct. 9, 2021. Carrying a 33-pound rucksack, participants marched 3.75 miles in 60 minutes or less to qualify for the bronze-level badge, 5.6 miles in 90 minutes or less for silver, and 7.5 miles in 120 minutes or less for gold.
