U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Elena M. Rodriguez, outgoing Sgt. Maj. of Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron (MWHS) 3, 3rd Marine Aircraft wing, was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal after the MWHS-3 relief and appointment ceremony on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Dec. 9, 2021. The relief and appointment ceremony is a time honored tradition which formally signifies the transfer of responsibility and entails the total accountability and authority from one individual to another.
