Andree Carter, commanding general of Task Force McCoy, introduces herself to local hospital executives from Gunderson Health System, Tomah Health System and Black River Memorial Health during a visit at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Dec 8, 2021. Task Force McCoy partnered with local hospitals to provide medical care for Afghan evacuees here as part of Operation Allies Welcome. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
