Maj. Gen. JB Vowell, U.S. Army Japan commanding general, and Maj. Gen. Yoshiro Tanaka 陸上自衛隊 Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Training and Evaluation Department director, conduct a wall walk with the Mission Command Training Program to review the YS After-Action Review at Camp Itami Dec. 11.
After the general's guidance, the MCTP will finalize the AAR and facilitate a profession discussion with 25th Infantry Division and 陸上自衛隊 中部方面隊 to discuss the exercise, focus on training objectives, and show the units ways to see themselves so they can sustain strengths and improve weaknesses.
Yama Sakura 81 is the largest U.S.-Japan bilateral and joint command post exercise which enables participants to work as dedicated partners in support of the U.S.-Japan security alliance and for continued peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. This year's exercise commemorates the 40th anniversary of Yama Sakura.
