A trifold program greets attendees to the activation ceremony of the 53rd Fighter Squadron at the D.C. Air National Guard 113th Wing auditorium, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, Dec. 10th, 2021. The 53rd, a historic unit with roots in World War Two, was reactivated as a partner unit to the 113th as part of the U.S. Air Force Total Force Initiative, which pairs active duty personnel with National Guard counterparts for training and operations. As of the activation, 51 active duty airmen were assigned to the 53rd. The unit insignia featuring a cartoon tiger was designed by Walt DIsney in 1943. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt.
