211215-N-IK959-5238 CHICAGO (Dec. 15, 2021) Rear Adm. Jennifer Couture, commander, Naval Service Training Command (NSTC), is “piped aboard” and given arrival honors at Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy High School by Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) staff and cadets. Couture visited two Chicago-area units Dec. 15. The admiral and her NSTC staff, headquartered at Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill., oversee the NJROTC program. NJROTC is part of the Navy’s citizenship program, which seeks to instill the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment in participating high school students. NJROTC strives to build a strong foundation of citizenship within America’s future leaders.
