Fort Pickett, Va. (Dec. 19, 2021) Mr. Bryan Lee, Office of Refugee Resettlement, reviews site words with Afghan women during a beginner/intermediate level English as a second language class on Fort Pickett. Task Force Pickett provides Afghan evacuees multiple educational and cultural courses to assist their successful resettlement to the United States. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
