Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Col. Satoru Idaka, commanding officer of 15th Logistics Support Unit, speaks with Col. Douglas Burke, commanding officer of Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group on Camp Naha, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 20, 2021. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss upcoming training and current logistical capabilities between forces, allowing the U.S. and Japanese to strengthen relationships and to plan future integrated bilateral training. 3rd MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward-deployed combat unit that serves as III Marine Expeditionary Force’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
