Rev. Kirby Verret, a Clanton Chapel United Methodist Church pastor, lost the steeple to his church after Hurricane Ida. Rev. Kirby, a native of the Houma Indian Tribe, used the shingles from the old Houma Native American Schoolhouse to cover the steeple. Rev. Kirby has been a staple of the Dulac community; even with his losses, he has helped provide goods and emotional support to the community. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Brigida I. Sanchez)
