On Aug. 6, 2020, Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr. became the 22nd Chief of Staff of the Air Force. In doing so, he made history as the first African American to lead a military service. As Chief, he serves as the senior uniformed Air Force officer responsible for the organization, training and equipping of 685,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the U.S. and overseas.
