Niger army basic training instructors listen to a briefing on U.S. plans to enhance the Forces Armées Nigériennes Tondibiah training program for new recruits Dec. 7, 2021. The Basic Training Enhancement Project, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Niamey, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa and the Indiana Army National Guard, is scheduled for completion by April. The objective is to enhance the FAN’s basic training capability, develop standardized testing requirements, increase the training capacity and ultimately the effectiveness of FAN. The project is part of the Trans-Sahara Counterterrorism Partnership program and is a collaborative effort between the Office of Security Cooperation U.S. Embassy, Niamey, Niger, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa and the Indiana Army National Guard Regional Training Institute.
