Alpine Star 22 is part of an allied forces training exercise that includes tactical insertions, medical evacuations, and tactical movement between objectives in mountainous terrain. Alpine Star 22 is a culmination of previous training exercises where Alpine troops taught U.S. paratroopers basic mountaineering skills including multi-pitch and lead rope climbing.
The 173d Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, Africa and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
