Fort Pickett, Va. (Jan. 18, 2022) Andrea Thelen, International SOS, administers a COVID test to an Afghan evacuee. Evacuees must pass a COVID test before they can enter any of the other medical departments and can get vaccinations to include a booster while having their COVID vaccination card completed. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
