Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Craven (left) receives the U.S. Corps of Cadets guidon colors from Commandant Brig. Gen. Mark Quander as Craven assumes his new role as the 26th command sergeant major of the U.S. Corps of Cadets on Friday at Crest Hall. The assumption of responsibility is a simple, yet traditional event rich with symbolism and heritage. The key to the ceremony is the passing of the guidon, which is the soul of a military unit and represents not only the lineage and honor of the unit but also the loyalty and unity of the Soldiers.
