Sailors assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) combat a class bravo fire simulated by Chief legalman Juston Hood, from Corpus Christi, Texas, assigned to Ford’s legal department, for a phase III crew certification damage control evaluation, Jan. 26, 2022. Phase III Crew Certification focuses on how the ship’s training teams accomplish necessary crew training needed to return the ship to sea. Ford is in port at Newport News Shipyard executing her Planned Incremental Availability (PIA), a six-month period of modernization, maintenance and repairs.
