A drift tube module radioactive source cap is tested for radioactive contamination on an alpha probe before being recycled by an Air Force Radioactive Recycling and Disposal team member, Dec. 1, 2021 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The source cap is located within a centimeter of the actual radioactive source, and must be surveyed to ensure there is no contamination before releasing it as a recyclable metal.
