U.S. Air Force Maj. Stacie Shafran, Task Force-Liberty Public Affairs director, teaches English words and phrases to Afghan children during community-based education in Liberty Village on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, Jan. 25, 2022. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 11,000 Afghan evacuees at Liberty Village, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
