A memorial at the the Sabånan Fadang burial site displays a plaque and ancient CHamoru lusongs, mortars used for pounding or husking rice, on Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Blaz, Guam, Feb. 1, 2022. Four grave pits were originally found in 2020, with an additional three grave pits found during monument construction between Oct. 29, 2021 and Nov. 2, 2021. The constructed monument was proposed by the Guam State Historic Preservation Office and supports MCB Camp Blaz’s commitment to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Guam.
