U.S. Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and a U.S. Navy Aviation Boatswain Mate Handler brace for an incoming U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter during a mass casualty evacuation scenario aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), Jan. 28, 2022, in the Philippine Sea. Marines and sailors attached to LHA 6 regularly conduct mass casualty evacuation and treatment procedures to maintain proficiency in a combat environment. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
