ATLANTIC OCEAN – The Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) follows behind the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44), Jan. 24, 2022. The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 22nd Marine Expedionary Unit (MEU) are underway conducng a Composite Training Unit (COMPTUEX). COMPTUEX is the 7nal pre-deployment exercise that cer7es the Kearsarge ARG and 22nd MEU’s ability to conduct military operaons through joint planning, and execute challenging and realisc scenarios.
