    U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star (WAGB 10) crewmembers gather and listen to the speech about the tradition of polar sailors while their new Antarctica service medals are on display during quarters Jan. 9, 2022, while underway in the Ross Sea, Antarctica. The medal was intended as a military award to replace several commemorative awards which had been issued for previous Antarctica expeditions from 1928 to 1941 and member must spend at least 10 days in Antarctica to earn the medal.
