220203-N-VQ947-1034 PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 3, 2022) — Damage Controlman 3rd Class Clayton Saenz, from Greenville, Texas, prepares to lead his fireteam into the ship’s library to attack a simulated fire during a general quarters drill aboard San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Portland (LPD 27), Feb. 3, 2022. Noble Fusion demonstrates that Navy and Marine Corps forward-deployed stand-in naval expeditionary forces can operate as a Marine Expeditionary Unit/Amphibious Ready Group team at sea, along with a carrier strike group, in order to conduct lethal sea-denial operations, seize key maritime terrain, guarantee freedom of movement, and create advantage for US, partner and allied forces.
