Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, the 55th Chief of Engineers and commanding general of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, shakes hands with Muhamed Mahmood, an Army Corps of Engineers’ Transatlantic Expeditionary (TAE) District project engineer, who will be briefing Lt. Gen. Spellmon on the construction of one of five APS-500 buildings, located at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, on Jan. 31, 2022. When completed the facilities will provide critical environmental protection for Army Materiel Command's pre-positioned stock, part of a U.S. Army program in which equipment sets are stored around the globe for use when a combatant commander requires additional capabilities. Lt. Gen. Spellmon is in Kuwait reviewing Army Corps of Engineer projects and meeting with key leaders and staff from the Transatlantic Division's two districts, the Middle East District and Transatlantic Expeditionary District. He will also meet with senior U.S. embassy personnel along with Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense and Kuwaiti Naval officers during his key leader engagements. (U.S. Army photo by Richard Bumgardner)
