Morris Warner, a National Montford Point Marine Association representative, gives a speech on the Montford Point Marines during an Algiers Festival at Federal City, Feb. 12, 2022. Montford Point Marines are the first African-American Marines to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps after President Franklin Roosevelt issued an Executive Order establishing the Fair Employment Practices Commission in June 1941. The recruits trained at Camp Montford Point in Jacksonville, North Carolina, from Aug. 26, 1942 until the camp was decommissioned on Sep. 9, 1949. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
