Rear Adm. Wayne Baze, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 3, right, and U.S. Marine corps. Sgt. Victor Duenas, assigned to 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, discuss the capabilities of the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) aboard amphibious dock landing ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) during pierside training onboard Naval Base San Diego, Jan. 27. The pierside training was conducted in advance of a two-day waterborne training evolution focused on safety and transport capabilities for both the Marine Corps and Navy and is part of a larger training plan to refine tactics and doctrine for amphibious operations.
